{"id":168,"date":"2020-08-13T00:56:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T00:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalcommentary.utoronto.ca\/?p=168"},"modified":"2022-05-27T22:45:30","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T22:45:30","slug":"christina-lechtermann","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalcommentary.utoronto.ca\/?p=168","title":{"rendered":"Christina LECHTERMANN"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Ruhr University of Bochum<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, my interest is focused on two different subject areas: a) technical literature of the Early Modern Period and above all 16<sup>th<\/sup> century printed books that present skills and knowledge in constructive geometry, and b) vernacular legends and poetry praising the virgin Mary, above all \u2018Gloss Songs\u2019 (Glossenlieder), \u2018Marienpsalter\u2019 and narratives presenting the life of the virgin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research related to commentary<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Vernacular narratives that adapt biblical or apocryphal material to explicate events or tell the life of central figures of salvation history show a tendency to include forms of commentary. Some of these narratives have even been sentenced as unwieldy, laborious texts in which the excessive use of commentaries seems to shatter the narration. Others, while in fact disintegrating the <em>diegesis<\/em> even further and sometimes reducing the progression of the plot to one sentence a time, seem to include forms of commentary in a sophisticated way.
